Although heroin abuse reached its peak in the late 1960's and early 1970's, it has seen a significant resurgence across the country. The main difference is that the heroin of today is 5-10 times more pure than heroin being sold over 30 years ago. Heroin over 50% pure can be successfully snorted, and the drug is being abused by this method, and by injecting the opiate into the bloodstream.

Warren County is currently seeing a large increase in the abuse of heroin, especially in our most northern cities and townships. Overdoses and even suspected heroin related overdose deaths are starting to become more prevalent in these areas.
